CFAES Around the World Challenge

Who Can participate?

Any CFAES undergraduate student from any Ohio State campus.

how does it work?

We will be posting here and to our social media sites daily (OSU Voyagers | Facebook, CFAES Education Abroad (@osu_voyagers) • Instagram photos and videos, Ohio State Voyagers (@osu_voyagers) / Twitter). 

Each post will be based on a CFAES education abroad program and will ask participants to go to the website of a location typically visited on the program and answer a basic question with information found on the website.  An example of what a post will look like is below.  Students will submit their responses through a unique link to a qualtrics survey included with each post.

when will the challenge run?

Registration for the Challenge will open on March 8 and close on March 18.  Participants will receive an email on March 19 with a reminder of the Challenge requirements and a schedule of posts.  

The Challenge will run March 22 - April 2.

Do I have to have social media to participate?

No. In addition to posting to social media, we will also upload the posts to this website daily so students who don't use social media can still participate!

how are points awarded? 

Points will be awarded based on the in order in which correct responses are submitted for each question.  The participant who submits the correct answer first will receive the top points, followed by the second participant to submit the correct answer.  Participants who submit incorrect answers will also be awarded points in order of submission, starting after the last participant who submitted the correct answer. For example:
     -First correct response: 5 points
     -Second correct response: 4 points
     -Last correct response: 3 points
     -First incorrect response: 2 points
     -Last incorrect response 1 point

what do i get for participating?

All participants who register for the challenge and submit responses to each post will receive a mailing with a couple small give-a-way items. The participants with the top points will receive a slightly larger mailing.

what are the give-a-ways? 

Luggage Grippers (great for identifying which roller bag is your roller bag)
Reusable Straws (environmentally friendly without the papery aftertaste)
Passport Holders (keep that document looking fresh and represent Ohio State)
Power Banks (never run out of battery)

Mailings will include two of the first three items listed above (photos coming soon). Participants who finish the race in the lead will recieve power banks in their give-a-way mailing.

how do i know my standing?

A leaderboard will be posted to this website which will like the top participants.  We will email all participants halfway through the challenge to let them know their standing and then again at the end of the challenge.
