Kady R. Davis
Animal Sciences - Animal Industries
Department of Animal Sciences
When asked what her most valuable learning experience has been, Kady Davis indicated her participation in the education abroad programs to Nicaragua, Ireland, and Italy. Kady was able to take what she learned in the classroom and apply it to a real-world setting while reflecting on what she learned to further herself as a citizen, student, and professional.
During the spring semester of 2018, Kady served as a Senate Page in the Ohio Statehouse. It was an experience she enjoyed as it allowed her to meet many industry representatives while learning more about government operations. Kady continued to balance her work experiences with her rigorous academic course load. Beginning autumn semester of 2018, Kady worked part-time in the prospective student services office in coordinating the Experience Ohio State for a Day program.
Kady completed two internships while enrolled at Ohio State. She interned with Heritage Cooperative in Lisbon, Ohio as a Purina feed sales intern. She also interned with the Kim Davis Insurance Agency in Waynesburg, Ohio as an Agribusiness intern.
Proud to accomplish a goal she set, Kady trained and ran her first half marathon at the Nationwide Children’s Hostpital Columbus Marathon in October of 2019. She said crossing the finish line with her roommate was an amazing feeling of accomplishment.
Kady has had extensive involvement as a volunteer and with community service. She has been a member of Sigma Alpha Professional Agricultural Sorority where she served as Philanthropy chair for two years. Kady has served as an ambassador for the College helping with student recruitment events, serving as a representative of undergraduate students, and interacting with alumni and donors. Kady has also participated in BuckeyeThon. Kady served as a Department of Animal Sciences delegate for the CFAES Student Council as well as a member of the Animal Science Community Alliance leadership team for her department.
Kady’s academic honors include: Dean’s List | Bucket and Dipper Junior Class Honorary | National Society of Collegiate Scholars.
After graduation, Kady will be working for the Kim Davis Insurance Agency as an Associate Agent specializing in farm insurance. She will develop marketing strategies, work with clients to deliver risk management strategies that fit their needs, as well as service all new and renewal policies. Kady is excited to be able to learn even more about the agency and help grow the business.
Kady has selected Ms. Mariette Benage as her mentor. Kady said, “Mariette Benage is someone I’ve considered to be my mentor since my second year as an undergraduate student. I first met Mariette when I decided to apply to the ASCA team, and I truly believe my college experience would not be what it is today if it wasn’t for Mariette. Mariette has always been very helpful and supportive and is always willing to sit and chat about absolutely anything. She’s an incredible role model because of her impactful leadership and generosity, and she has made such a positive impact on my college experience.”
