    As you are likely aware, The Ohio State University has adopted a policy, effective Jan. 1, 2014, that is intended to create a tobacco-free environment. The policy prohibits the use of tobacco products in or on all university-owned, -operated or -leased property, including vehicles and outdoor areas. It is the intent of this university to create a culture that encourages compliance by promoting and supporting a healthy environment.

    The Communications unit in CFAES has responsibility for the design, editing, production and distribution of OSU Extension and other for-sale publications. As a result of increased costs associated with that responsibility, prices were increased effective Oct. 1.

  6. College Faculty Approves Professional Practice Faculty Track

    In a recent vote, a majority (184, yes; 29, no) of the eligible tenure-track faculty of CFAES voted to approve the proposal to establish a professional practice (i.e., clinical) faculty track, as discussed in the Sept. 3 all-faculty meeting. The proposal was submitted to the Office of Academic Affairs for review and consideration on Oct 16.

  7. Students Travel to National Conference

    Columbus, Ohio – On Thursday, November 7, 29 students from The Ohio State University traveled west to Kansas City, Missouri to take part in the Agriculture Future of America Leaders Conference. The AFA Leaders Conference provides support for college men and women who are preparing for careers in agriculture-related fields, while at the same time supporting the development of human capital for the agriculture and food industry. Leaders Conference bridges the gap between academic, leadership and work experiences while helping students understand the impact of their decisions.

  8. Limes Leads OSU Livestock Judging Team with First Top Ten at Stockman

    COLUMBUS, Ohio - Emily Limes finished sixth overall on Oct. 19, at the Stockman Judging Contest, held at the Dekalb County Fairgrounds in Auburn, Ind.  This marked the first time in the 20-year history of the contest that an OSU student has ranked in the top ten overall.

    Ohio State was among ten university teams and approximately 70 students that competed this past weekend in the final competition prior to the American Royal and the Kalmbach Feeds sponsored trip to NAILE.  Team scores were not determined in the individuals-only contest.

  9. Scientist develops innovative vaccine for profit-draining swine virus

    A CFAES researcher has created a unique vaccine to protect swine from porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome (PRRS), a viral disease that causes direct losses to U.S. swine producers to the tune of $664 million a year.
