Second Annual Student Council Pumpkin Carving Contest

Students come together for fall festivities in celebration of their college and friendly competition amongst student organizations.

The 2012 College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences annual fall social was held October 25 this year. The event hosted record attendance with over 110 students, faculty, and staff filling the Agricultural Administration Auditorium. Students from not only the college, but university wide were present. Representatives from 20 different student organizations honed up their best carving skills in the pumpkin carving contest.

With a $50 gift card and free cases of pop on the line, the faculty filled judging panel had a tough decision to make this year. Top awards in the competition included a tie for 2nd place between Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity and Alpha Zeta Partners, with top honors being awarded to the Ohio State Meats Judging Team.

Other highlights included classic fall refreshments, and music provided by our very own student council secretary Ellen Gilliland. Spirits were high, laughter filled the auditorium, competition stirred, and good times were had by all. This year’s event was significantly larger than our first pumpkin carving contest held last fall, something the CFAES Student Council would like to recognize and commend our fellow students. Thank you to everyone who came out to support our college and make this an event to remember! Go Bucks!
