OSU Food Science Department represented at IFT Annual Convention

Many members of the Food Science department attended the Institute of Food Technology annual convention in New Orleans in June. Our students competed in poster presentation competitions and in the College Bowl competition. The following is a list of the students’ successes:


  • Allison Atnip received the IFT Student Association Excellence in Leadership Award
  • The College Bowl Team was First Runner up in the IFT College Bowl Competition!
  • The Food Science Club received a 3rd place and Most Improved for Chapter of the Year
  • Ron Bangcuyo placed 1st in the Sensory & Consumer Sciences Division of the Graduate Student Research Paper Oral Competition
  • Mei-Ling Shotts placed 2nd in the Quality Assurance Division Poster Competition
  • Jen Koch placed 3rd in the Food Chemistry Division Poster Competition
  • Colleen Nackerman placed 3rd in the Fruit & Vegetable Division Poster Competition
  • Matt Niezgoda placed 3rd in the Nutraceuticals & Functional Foods Division Poster Competition
  • Sravanti Paluri (advised by Denny Heldman) placed 3rd in the Refrigerated & Frozen Foods Division Poster Competition
