The Diversity Leadership Symposium at The Ohio State University was created to provide an inter departmental professional development event in the area of inter‐cultural competence for higher education professionals and college students. It was designed with an emphasis on teaching real‐life, usable skills, and understanding for the purpose of creating welcoming and inclusive environments.
Objectives for the 2013 Symposium are to:
- Identify and define what cultural competence is and how it can be used to foster or enhance leadership
- Cultivate and practice the skills needed to develop a culturally competent environment.
- Creating a safe space for authentic dialogue within, across, and between groups.
