CFAES Education Abroad Voyagers
Who: A group of around 15 dedicated students with experience and interest in furthering Education Abroad for the College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences at The Ohio State University.
What: The purpose of the Education Abroad Voyagers Team is to aid in the development, recruitment, and orientation for Education Abroad by lending their expertise, time, and talents.
Where: The Education Abroad Voyagers team “headquarters” will be the Education Abroad office in room 100 Agricultural Administration Building.
When:
- Voyagers will be selected at the end of each academic term
- Training will occur during a retreat just before or after the start of the Autumn Semester.
- Voyagers will meet twice a month as a large group and carry out project team meetings as needed for the Education Abroad recruitment or support event they have chosen to carry out.
How: They will help disseminate information about Education Abroad through classroom visits, student organization visits, posting fliers, organizing workshops, making videos, social media content creating, coordinating various activities such as a media contest (YouTube, posters, PowerPoint) and Education Abroad reunions. They will also represent Education Abroad at various welcome and involvement fairs for the College and University level and Admissions Open Houses. Students will also advise the CFAES Education Abroad Center regarding means of recruitment, orientation, and follow up activities.
Why: The perspective of Education Abroad staff can only go so far in providing information relative to Education Abroad. Education Abroad Voyagers lend credibility to the many assets gained through Education Abroad by providing the student perspective.
Requirements: Must have studied abroad, or will be studying abroad in an upcoming term, in at least one Education Abroad program offered through the university (CFAES program preference, but maybe a Non-CFAES program). Must be enthusiastic about studying abroad, and want to share your experience with others. Must be open to speak in classrooms and give short presentations on Education Abroad programs.
